I need to start off this post with a couple of pictures from a little while ago. Tyler came over to play after a nice rainstorm and he and Avery had a wonderful time.
~
Chit-chatting on the porch The wagon got stuck in the mud and Tyler was a complete gentleman and let Avery stay inside while he pushed.
Our backyard is great for little outdoor explorers!... especially if their moms don't mind if they get a little dirty. We have a small creekbed that runs right through the middle of our backyard and its the perfect size to play in after it rains.
Avery and Tyler spent the majority of their time in the creek getting more water and food for the baby snapping turtle we found. Avery also thought it was nice to add some flowers in the bowl we kept it in. A consistent love in Avery's life is driving. She thinks its great when Daddy drives her around on the lawn mower. She has recently though started ordering him out of the seat so that she can sit there and "drive" by herself.
Avery also loves socks and shoes. She is forever putting on our shoes and, in this picture, had talked her Daddy into removing his socks and letting her wear them. I love this picture!I know I've posted bubble pictures before, but I had to show you Avery's new talent. When we get the bubbles out now, she insists on blowing them herself. She always gets the bubble wand a little too close and ends up with solution all in her mouth. She has found though that this works just as well because then you can blow bubbles straight from your mouth without the middle man wand.

Avery is looking pretty tough here. She thinks she's so cool. Why does she think shes so cool? Take a close look...Here's a closer look for you. I mean, painted toe nails are soooo big girl! I need to take a moment to brag on my husband. I don't really blog about things like this much, but Clay deserves a little recognition. I am not really the flowers and jewelry type girl, which means on Valentine's Day or Mothers' Day or our anniversary there's not really an easy "go to" gift that he can get me. Flowers die, I lose jewelry (and get nervous if I ever wear nice jewelry... my wedding and engagement rings are the only real diamonds I want to own right now), I don't really care if my fingernails and toenails are cute so manicures and pedicures are out. Clay is wonderful though and definitely listens to me through the year. For Valentine's Day he bought me a bird feeder... for my birthday, a picnic table... for our anniversary, took me hiking... for this past Mothers' Day, got me a screen door to go out to our back porch so I can let fresh air in without the bugs! I guess he took the outdoors theme and ran with it... wonderful idea! Anyways, I wanted y'all to see some of the things I get to enjoy with gifts he's given. Here's my birdfeeder, the goldfinch love it... so do the squirrels!I took this from our picnic table. Two whistling ducks and two Canadian geese. Just a few nights ago two pair of geese brought all of their goslings to our peninsula... what a sweet thing to get to watch. Not technically a gift, but Clay is also building us a little fence to keep the kids away from the pond... I guess it could be considered a gift to me, his mom and my mom. I thought this was pretty cool too... Clay looked out the kitchen window and saw baby bluebirds on one of our birdhouses. We waited long enough and sure enough the daddy came to feed them. You can see the back end of the junebug in going in the baby's mouth.
And now on to the newest member of the Spencer family... little Landry Lucille. Landry's newest news is her receding hair line. No, she's not just losing her hair... she's got male pattern baldness. Take a look. Nice, huh?
She's still the prettiest little thing we've seen though! :) I'm not usually a headband and big bow girl, but it sure does cover up the balding pattern nicely for now.
Bonnets do well too! These pictures were from her 1st month pictures. I have some cute ones, but this one was my favorite! She has been a wonderful baby so far. We have been so blessed!

Well, it's about that time again. We're having a great time here with Miss Landry. Avery has definitely taken to her and is settling in to her new role as big sister. She's quite proud of "the baby" (Avery still can't say Landry) and is forever wanting to look at her. I finally bought her a stool at Walmart so she could look up over the playpen at her leisure... that was definitely a hit.

I can't believe she is almost a month old already! She's a great baby and pretty low maintenance. The only thing she does that isn't that cute is grunt. Don't get me wrong, the grunting in and of itself isn't that bad, it's her choice of timing... you know, I think I'll grunt loudly for a couple of hours starting about 3am. It's really hard to sleep through. I'm not complaining though, I'd rather deal with that than a screaming child.

I just liked this picture After her first bath
We went and spent some time out at the Woodall's with all of the younger kids at church. It was so fun for Avery. She got to roam around, ride horses and eat cheetos all evening. Could it have been better?
Roselyn came over to play in the water the other day. Notice my child getting getting progressively more exposed as time goes on... that happens a lot when we go outside.
Roselyn helping Avery with her stew in the backyard. This has been a continual project of Avery's since early this spring.

Helping out with the landscaping.I love her hat! Thanks Aunt Tara! Doodle came over to see Landry and spoil Avery just a little. Avery has really taken to "DooDoo" and wanted to Doodle to go with her everywhere, not Mommy. Nice! I don't think Avery's gonna be happy when the new little Spencer boy arrives and Doodle has her hands full with her own baby.
One of Avery's favorite activities is feeding the birds. It gets a little messy at times.
She saw a few birds flying over and quickly picked up some seed and offered it to them.
My little helper
Does everyone have a picture like this as a kid?Avery always wants to pick up Landry and hold her. Obviously this occurs only when closely monitored. Aside from the fact that Avery would probably drop her, there is also the likelihood of an eye being scratched or an ear being tugged at.
So proud
We have recently made another big transition. We started finding Avery like this after her naps, with everything thrown over the rails and often her little leg hiked up on the side rail.
I had been working on her big girl room for a little while but had decided to give her a little more adjustment time before changing rooms. Apparently she didn't need it because one night she just asked to go night-night in her new room... and did! She didn't wake up once and has loved it. Here she is on her first night in her new room.
Great Aunt Gwen Ann sent some goodies over the other day and Avery loved them. Here she is showing off her goods. What a look! Thanks Gwen Ann!
Landry has loved the swing. She'll sit in there and drift off to sleep. The only problem is......the swing is at toddler level and Avery loves to give kisses. Landry's deep sleeps are often interrupted in this manner.
We got to travel down to Huntsville for Jeff and Robin's wedding last weekend. The trip itself was a little rough, but it was more than worth it. Avery got a little treat from her PawPaw at the reception. PawPaw is obviously not in charge of laundry! :) Miss Landry Lucille was looking pretty cute for the wedding too. Thanks Aunt P for the dress! On our way back, we stayed with Nanny Lou to break up the trip. We had a wonderful visit and got to go to church with her Sunday morning. We always love visiting her... she spoils everyone who walks through her door! Here she is doting on her namesake. Can you tell that Landry takes a little after her... I mean, Landry obviously didn't get her dark skin or hair from me!That is one proud great-grandmother.
I think Avery especially loved our stop at Nanny Lou's. Nanny let Avery drag her around all over the place and Avery loved the attention. Here she is riding on a decorative cow. And here she is losing her britches! :)
And I'll end my megapost with some pictures from Monday. Helping Mommy plant seeds.Avery is definitely a lover of water... stirring, bathing, playing, splashing, and any mud that comes with it is bonus. Here she is giving Cue a bath.
Bye for now.
